Q) Does your office follow the 2018 fee guide?

A) No, but we are pretty close to what the fee guide recommends.

Q) Why not follow the new fee guide?

A) Our fees are very comparable to what other dental offices in Airdrie are charging. We know this because we polled several offices to make sure that our fees are competitive. We set our fees to cover our office overhead. Part of this is the investment we have made in new technology to make your visit better such as digital X-rays to decrease radiation to you and cameras to allow you to see pictures of your teeth to understand what condition they are in. We’ve also invested in patient comforts and conveniences such as TV’s and headphones in each room with Netflix, complimentary slippers, lip chap, hot towels, and a hot beverage station. Just like discount airlines where lower prices and don’t allow for any perks, we can’t offer a great patient experience on the prices set in the 2018 fee guide.

Part of our prices are determined by staff salaries and since staff wages are the highest in Canada we have to pay to have the best quality team possible. We also have extra infection control steps to clean our instruments that have been mandated by Alberta Health. This has included the purchasing of new equipment to clean our instruments and throwing away (single use) many items that we were once allowed to disinfect and reuse. This has greatly increased the overhead in most Alberta offices, and no other province is required to follow these steps. We also choose to use quality dental supplies from reputable suppliers. Some of these supplies are very costly, and the price is dependent on the US dollar. Most recently, we have also had to start paying the carbon tax on our utility bill, and we do not qualify for a rebate.

We understand that prices in Alberta can be difficult for those on a tight budget. For the convenience of our patients, we offer in-office payment plans and third-party financing. This is done on a case by case basis. Our goal is to work within your timeline and budget to get your work done and help you achieve your best oral health.

We will be happy to file your dental insurance claims for you. Please bring your insurance information when you come in for your appointment. We will work with you to ensure that you receive the maximum benefits to which you are entitled. Remember, dental insurance is intended to cover some, but not all of the cost of your dental care.  The fees charged for services rendered to those who are insured are the usual and customary fees charged to all our patients for similar services. Your policy may base its eligible fee on a fixed fee schedule, which may or may not coincide with our usual fees. You should be aware that different insurance carriers vary greatly in the types of coverage available and that group benefits are designed based on options your employer has chosen for you.

A) Regular dental appointments can identify problems early before they become more serious. In addition to our comprehensive dental examination, we use digital x-rays of the teeth and surrounding bone to diagnose cavities and any underlying concerns that could be developing beyond the naked eye.

Q) Will You Accept Payment from My Insurance Company?

A) Dental insurance benefits are used to help our patients cover some or all of the cost associated with their dental care. Not all dental insurance plans are the same which makes it important for you to understand your specific plan details before your appointment. Most dental plans cover some, but not all of the cost of your dental care. The dental fees billed at North Main Family Dental for our services are the usual and customary fees charged to all our patients, whether you have dental insurance or not. Your particular policy may cover treatments and services at a fixed fee schedule, which typically does not coincide with our usual fees. In these cases, here the difference in fees not covered by your insurance company becomes your responsibility to pay and will be invoiced to you once we receive payment from your dental plan.

Q) What Should I Bring to My First Visit to North Main Family Dental?

A) Please ensure that you bring your dental insurance cards along with your plan details. Our office administrators will do their best to help you understand your coverage details and whether your plan allows for the assignment of benefits.

What Payment Options are Available to Me?
We require payment in full at the time of treatment. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Interac (Debit). Our Dental Club is also an exciting way to plan and budget for your dental needs.

A) At North Main Family Dental, we believe everyone deserves proper dental care and the confidence to share their smile, without breaking the bank. Instead of dreading the big cost of a dental visit, which can make it tempting to put off, you simply pay a small monthly amount which ensures you and your family get the preventative care you need when you need it.

Q) Will Joining the Dental Club Benefit Me if I’m Self-Employed or Don’t Have Insurance?

A) If you are without dental benefits, you may be inclined to forgo dental services. As a member of the Dental Club, you can budget a small amount each month and ensure you and your family get your twice annual dental exams and cleanings without the inconvenience of managing a large expense all at once. We can also show you options how to pay your Dental Club membership pre-tax through your company.

Q) What if I Already have Dental Insurance? How Will Joining the Dental Club Benefit Me?

A) If you have insurance, often it’s frustrating to find that the coverage you have is not sufficient to cover all your needs. Restrictions, deductibles, and limits often mean you need to shortchange the care you want. By joining the Dental Club, you get a fixed amount you pay each month and know that you can get the preventative cleanings and exams that ensure your dental health. Each time you come in for treatment, we simply submit your billings to the insurance company. You receive your reimbursement directly from them. Our staff will be more than happy to show you how to structure your insurance coverage so you can maximize the benefits you receive. Often, patients find it beneficial to pay out of pocket for routine preventative dentistry, saving their limits for other work such as fillings, crowns or bridges. We would be happy to show you how to best take advantage of your specific situation.

  • Periodontal assessment for gum disease
  • Consult for cosmetic dentistry options (if required)
  • Scaling (cleaning) 3 units per appointment

A) The North Main Dental Club is divided into the following age groups:
ADULT $59/mth — YOUTH 12-18 YRS $56/mth — CHILD UP TO 12 YRS $29/mth

A) We’re happy to provide a detailed treatment plan with the associated costs clearly outlined so that you can budget for each appointment accordingly. We can also prioritize treatments so that you can attend to the most urgent dental needs right away and then plan further treatments over time.
